A Beautiful Example of What Can Be Done With

Tire-building!

10' High Solar Window Wall @ 7,500 ft. altitude in Black Forest, Colorado

View of home from Southwest...note 10' high solar window array.

A master bedroom walk-out is seen to the left.  The arch-covered main entry is seen in the center of the solar window array. Another entry leads into the greenhouse area from the East walk-up.  The garage is also seen to the East.

View to West in Master Bath Room

In this huge Master Bath we are looking toward the custom Japanese polished river rock bathtub and steam-room/shower. The view out the widows is over the pond to the west.

View to East in Master Bath Room.

Again, in the Master Bath, looking from the entry to the East over the double sink and counter top. A planter is seen to the right, in front of the solar windows. Adobe plastered walls, liberal use of glass blocks, and large hand-hewn log posts make the motif a rustic South-western style.

Master Bathtub

Yet another way this owner/builder has expressed themselves in a unique and beautiful way.

Master Bedroom

Double sided adobe fireplace, adobe floors and walls, skylight, two closets and direct access to the huge master bathroom make this a wonderful, warm and cozy bedroom.

View Along Solar Windows to Master Bedroom/Bath Entry

Down the hallway is the entry to the main bedroom suite, facing west. The living room is to the right. Faux slate flooring is used in the greenhouse area. Adobe floors are used in the interiors, throughout.

View to Front Entrance from Living Room

A view from the living room to the Southeast, looking at one of the adobe fireplaces with the entry doors beyond.  Also, note the arched pass-thru between kitchen and living room.  Here, the log-beam/tongue-and-groove roof sheathing ceiling can be seen clearly. Log beams are on four foot centers and T&G provides the necessary structural capability to span them.

View to East Entry, Bedroom and Bathroom Suite

To the left you see the entry to the first of a two bedroom module.  Each bedroom has an entry door to the bath, to which you can see the West entry.  The two doors at right are to garage/service area and East entry/exit.

Common (East) Bath Sink

Wash your hands in South-Western Style.

View into Dining Room

Looking into the dining area from the greenhouse hallway.  Note the pass-thru from the preparation kitchen area behind the wall to the right.  The arched pass-thru to the Living Room, seen here from the East, goes thru the tire-wall.

View into Living Room

The living room seen looking to the Southwest.  Note the upper level bedroom banister and the upper level bedroom half-log egress stairway at the upper right.

Upstairs Bedroom

View into Upstairs Bathroom

Looking into second upstairs bedroom through shared bath, shower and toilet to the left.

Yup, it's a pineapple!!

In Hawaii you can just cut the top off a pineapple and plant it, to grow another.  But in Colorado??
